Metricup sits a short drive inland from Yallingup, and what's made here, in this guide at least, is all food: chocolate, olives, jam and coffee beans. Gabriel Chocolate moved its factory here from Yallingup, to Harman's Mill Road beside a macadamia farm. At the factory, raw cacao is sorted by hand, roasted and winnowed to nibs, then ground and refined. Gabriel says it was the first maker in WA to work from the bean. The cafe on site does hot chocolate, a chocolate chunk cookie, gelato and coffee.

On Tom Cullity Drive, Providore is the shopfront for a larger property with its own olive grove, about 600 metres from the tasting centre. The olives are cold-pressed for oil or packed with chilli and lemon, and there are complimentary olive oil tastings, jams made by hand on site, and a whole-bean Injidup Blend coffee.

Coffee has history here too. Yahava KoffeeWorks began in 2001 in a shed on Metricup Road. Metricup is the first stop on our Margaret River chocolate trail, and a good plan B when the coast is wet.
