Jindong is near Vasse, and at North Jindong one seed does most of the work. Husband and wife Chris and Bronwyn Blake started Vasse Valley Hemp Farm, and it grew out of Chris's own research into industrial hemp.

Hulled, the seed becomes hemp hearts, raw and Australian grown, with a mild, nutty flavour. Scatter them over a finished dish. Cold-pressed, it becomes a hemp seed oil the farm describes as nutty, suited to salads and pasta. The same oil goes into the farm's soaps, shampoo bars, balms and a whipped cocoa body butter, alongside shea butter, jojoba and coconut oil. There's a soap on a rope too, and a shampoo bar scented with peppermint.
