Natural skincare

Natural skincare from the Margaret River region reads best as an ingredients list, so that's how we describe it. At Capricopia, Cath and Brad's goats supply the milk for a liquid shampoo. The farm's own bees provide beeswax for a whipped body butter of mango, cocoa and shea butters. Its serum is jojoba, apricot kernel, almond, olive and coconut oils, with no water.

Hemp seed oil turns up often down here. Nicole Botica of Soap Suds & Oils has researched hemp in cosmetics for over 25 years, by her own account. The business makes a vanilla-scented body butter and a light facial oil. Vasse Valley Hemp Farm puts its own hemp seed oil in a cocoa body butter, and Margaret River Hemp Co makes a milky face wash that doesn't foam.

Vasse Virgin builds its hand lotion and lip balms on extra virgin olive oil, the base of the soap it began with. Celestial Salts makes lip balm with beeswax and cocoa butter, in screw-top pots. In Dunsborough, Corrynne's began with soap at the Fremantle markets in 1995 and now makes most of its range in town.
