How this guide works

Made Down South is an independent guide, not a shop. Until a maker tells us otherwise, we have no arrangement with the businesses we write about: no stock, no stockist agreement, no partnership. Every unclaimed page says so plainly.

How we source facts. We write from what a maker publishes about themselves, and from regional press where it adds something. Every factual claim on a maker's page is checked against a source, and every page notes when it was last verified. Facts aren't re-checked forever: anything older than six months is due another look.

No prices. We don't list prices, because the goods are sold on each maker's own site, prices change, and they aren't ours to set. Product pages say "See current price at the maker's site" instead.

How we make money, and when we'll say so. Today, the only money this site earns is a small Amazon commission on some articles, and each of those articles says so near the links. Maker pages carry no paid links. If we earn in any other way, such as a referral commission on a link to a maker who runs an affiliate program, it will be disclosed on the page where it applies, not just in a footer. Paid placements, if we ever introduce them, will be labelled as paid, clearly, on the page.

If something's wrong. Facts get out of date and mistakes happen. If you spot one, or you're the maker and something needs correcting, use the "is this your business?" link on any page. We aim to fix genuine errors within 48 hours of hearing about them.
