Milk chocolate rocky road is the crowd-pleaser of the chocolate cabinet, and this one keeps to the Australian classic: soft marshmallow, crunchy nuts and raspberry jelly lollies, all set in milk chocolate. The raspberry pieces add a chewy, fruity note that cuts through the sweetness and makes each bite a little different from the last.
It's from The Margaret River Chocolate Company, which started in 1999 in a farm shed on a dairy at Metricup, in the South West of Western Australia. The original factory is still at Metricup, with free tastings, a cafe and a window onto the production floor, and the maker says more than a million people visit its factories each year.
Cut it into squares for afternoon tea with the neighbours, or keep the bag for the drive home after a long day down south.
