Truffle Hill
Golden Truffle Oil is extra virgin olive oil finished with flecks of black truffle and flakes of 23-carat edible gold, for looks as well as flavour. It's built for plating rather than cooking: a thin stream over a finished dish, where the gold catches the light and the truffle carries the smell.
It's sold under Ogilvie & Co, the wider pantry label from Truffle Hill, the truffle estate at Manjimup that has grown black Périgord truffle since 1997 in the Southern Forests region. The maker describes it as gluten free, and it's made and packed in Australia, in a 200 millilitre bottle.
Bring it out when a plain risotto or a bowl of polenta needs to look like it came from somewhere else, or give it as a gift with some shine.
