Simmo's Ice Creamery
An ice cream cake from Simmo's is built to your order: you pick three of the flavours, and the ice creamery layers them into a round cake and decorates it. There's also a scoop-topped version, covered in bright balls of ice cream, which the maker says has become a popular choice for weddings.
Simmo's has been making ice cream on Commonage Road near Dunsborough, Western Australia, since 1993, and the cakes draw on the same cabinet of about 60 flavours. So a cake might be burnt caramel, mango sorbet and vanilla, or whichever three the birthday person can't choose between.
Order one for a birthday lunch in Dunsborough or a family get-together on a South West holiday, and pick it up on the way.
