Cape to Cape MTB, October 2026
In 2026, the Cape to Cape MTB runs from Thursday 15 to Sunday 18 October. It's a four-day stage race of about 200 km, with about 2,500 m of climbing, from the Cape Leeuwin lighthouse to Cape Naturaliste. EventMatrix runs it, and entries are through Race Roster, in solo, pairs, eMTB, C2C Mini and Cape Kids categories.
The 2026 stages are Cape Leeuwin (45.1 km), Nannup (44.8 km), Margaret River (57.1 km) and Cape Naturaliste (41.4 km). The organiser says the course can change right up to the race-morning briefing. Pack collection is on Wednesday 14 October, 2 to 6 pm.
Not racing? Plan around Saturday 17 October if you were going to ride Margaret River that day.
Four parks, north to south

PARK 1
Dunsborough: the Country Club trails
Dunsborough's trails start at the golf club. Trails WA describes an 8 km circuit at the Dunsborough Country Club, next to Meelup Regional Park, that skirts the course. It's graded moderate: under an hour for a lap, or one to three hours if you keep going.
This is the one park in this guide with a published trail pass. You go in through the Country Club and buy a $5 casual pass, which Trails WA says covers several days. The trails are looked after by Cape Mountain Bikers, a community group.
There's a car park, a pump track and a wash-down station for bikes, with toilets and meals at the clubhouse when it's open. Trails WA rates March to November as the best months. Trails WA says sections of these trails are used near the end of the Cape to Cape MTB.

After the ride
Simmo's Ice Creamery has been making ice cream on Commonage Road since 1993, about 4 to 5 km from the trails, with around 60 flavours in the cabinet. Or go the other way, about 3 km, to Eagle Bay Olives on Cape Naturaliste Road, for an olive oil tasting at the farm shop and a seat in the garden by the orchard.

PARK 2
Margaret River: Wooditjup and The Pines
Margaret River's riding used to be three networks: Wharncliffe, Compartment 10 and The Pines. Parks and Wildlife now counts them as one, the Wooditjup Trails, with more than 45 km of trail from green to black. Trails WA still lists Wooditjup and The Pines separately, so you'll see both names.
Wooditjup itself is 17 trails and about 10 km, by Trails WA's count. The Wadandi Track is an easy green, Gulliver's Travels a blue and Senderella a black. The Pines, to the north through a pine plantation, adds about 15 km more.
It's free to ride, and you can leave the car at home. The local riders' club, MRORCA, says it's about a 10-minute ride in from town along the Alfred Bussell Trail and the Wadandi Track. Driving? The Rotary Park trailhead near Carters Road has toilets, drinking water, a shelter, barbecues and parking. The Pines car park on Carters Road has a picnic area but no water.
Trail builders Magic Dirt and Common Ground built the network, working with MRORCA and Parks and Wildlife. In 2026, both networks close on 17 October for the Cape to Cape MTB: see race week.

After the ride
The main street is about 2 km from Rotary Park. Watch fudge being poured behind the window at Margaret River Fudge Factory, or pick up a hand-tempered bar at Temper Temper's Margaret River shop. For coffee beans to take home, Yahava KoffeeWorks is about 4 km away on Andrews Way.

PARK 3
Nannup: Tank 7
Nannup Tank 7 Mountain Bike Park is about 2 km east of town on Brockman Highway, in a working pine plantation. When we checked in October 2026, Trails WA listed 29 trails, from green to double black, across cross country, all mountain, downhill and flow. The count has changed over the years, so check the current list.
Getting to the top is the part to plan. Trails WA says the Tank 7 Lookout is reached only by commercial or personal shuttle, and several descents finish at the Brockman Trailhead below. Private vehicles aren't allowed on the trails, there are no private shuttles in the Tank 8 area, motorbikes are banned, and there's no way in from the top of Brockman Highway, which is private property.
There's no water or food at the trailheads, so fill up in town. Trails WA lists water and toilets at Marinko Tomas Park, the Town Hall and the Shire offices, and a bike wash and toilets at Nannup Foreshore Park. Bike hire and mechanics are in town.
The park is run by the Shire of Nannup with Parks and Wildlife, the Forest Products Commission and the Nannup Mountain Bike Club. The Munda Biddi Trail passes through Nannup too.

Where to eat after
We don't list a maker with a shop in Nannup yet, and we'd rather say so than guess. The nearest in our guide is Truffle Hill's tasting room at Manjimup, about 42 km from Tank 7 in a straight line, and closer still to Pemberton, the next park.

PARK 4
Pemberton: the mountain bike park
Pemberton Mountain Bike Park is in Pemberton Forest Park on the north-west edge of town, with the trailhead at the town pool on Swimming Pool Road. It's community-owned, and volunteers from the Pemberton Cycling Association build and look after it.
The sources count it differently. Trails WA lists 16 trails; the club counts 36 km of hand-built singletrack. Grades run from green to black, and the pump and jump track at the car park is free, so new riders have somewhere to start.
Begin on the Skills Loop, an easy 1.5 km loop that takes 15 to 30 minutes. Relentless Blue and Cool Runnings are the two downhill runs. Toilets are at the pool and drinking water is at the trailhead. The Visitor Centre has a free printed map, the general store has spares, and hire is available in town.
The club asks riders to check trail conditions on Trailforks and to report problems there. It also warns that parts of the park have no phone reception, so you can't count on calling 000 from the trails.

After the ride
Pemberton Honey Co has a self-serve stall at its packing shed on Green Road, Channybearup, about 9 km west of the trailhead, open seven days. Try the karri honey: light, with a butterscotch flavour, from forest between Denmark and Pemberton. About 19 km away at Manjimup, Truffle Hill's estate sells its truffle salt, oil and honey.
Before you ride
- Check trail status the day you ride. For Margaret River, look at Parks and Wildlife's park alerts (alerts.dbca.wa.gov.au). For Pemberton, the club points riders to Trailforks.
- Respect closures. If a trail or a network is closed, ride another day or another park.
- Clean your bike and shoes between forests. Parks and Wildlife asks mountain bikers to "keep your bike and gear clean" so Phytophthora dieback isn't spread. Dunsborough has a wash-down station at the trailhead, and Nannup has a bike wash at the Foreshore Park.
- Carry water. Rotary Park at Margaret River and the Pemberton trailhead have drinking water. The Pines car park and the Nannup trailheads don't.
- Tell someone where you're riding. Trails WA lists mobile reception at Rotary Park, but the Pemberton club warns that parts of its park have no reception at all, so you can't rely on calling 000 there.
- Riding Dunsborough? Buy your $5 casual pass at the Country Club before you start.
