Little Otto's Big Choc Shop

Little Otto's Big Choc Shop opened on the Busselton foreshore around Easter 2025, in the building that used to be the town's tennis club. The chocolate is made on the spot: the production room sits behind a bright orange wall, and free tours go behind it every day, finishing with a tasting.

The name comes from a piece of local history. In 1897 a blue whale washed up in the Vasse River inlet, and the town called him Otto. His skeleton ended up at the museum in Perth. The shop tells its own cheerful, mostly true version of his story on its website.

The range is built for grazing and giving: rocky road in three sizes, honeycomb and salted pretzels coated in dark chocolate, roasted nuts, chocolate tablets, little sea creatures moulded in chocolate, buttons for baking, and a house drinking chocolate. The maker says its base chocolate has no gluten, but some of the things added to it do, and each listing says which.

Gelato is made on site too, and sold from a takeaway window at the shop. It's frozen, so it's sold there in person only, never online. The chocolate ships Australia-wide by express post from Busselton, or you can collect an order from the shop.
