Vanilla is the simplest flavour on Margaret River Fudge Factory's list, and the one to start with. With no chocolate or caramel to carry it, the bar shows the flavour on its own. Behind it sits the usual fudge base of sugar, butter and cream, boiled until it thickens and worked until it sets soft and dense.
It is made fresh in the kitchen of the family-owned shop on the main street of Margaret River, Western Australia, a business that says it has been making fudge by hand since 1999. Visitors can watch the mixing, pouring and cutting through a window into the kitchen itself.
