Side Plates, Signature Series

Signature Series was the first pattern Happs Pottery ever made. The maker describes it as golden wheat bowed by the wind, and it gives a small plate a little movement. You notice it over a slow breakfast.

Like every Happs plate, it is pressed in a mould, then trimmed, glazed and finished by hand at the studio on Caves Road, between Busselton and Dunsborough. The potter, Myles Happ, has potted since childhood and has nearly 30 years of stoneware behind him. The side plates are 18.5 cm across and about 470 g, and the maker says they are dishwasher, oven and microwave safe.

Use one for toast and marmalade, or set a few out with cheese and crackers when friends come over. They sit well beside the plain white Farmhouse dinner plates.
