River Ceramics
This deep, open ceramic bowl is made for noodles, soup and salads, or for serving at the table. It is wheel-thrown in a warm, textured clay, with a satin white glaze inside. The outside is brushed with a coloured slip in shades of blue and green, and every bowl turns out a little different.
Jolene, who runs River Ceramics, worked as a building designer for more than a decade before her first clay class in 2018. She says that background is why most of her pieces are functional, made for everyday use. She works from her studio in Margaret River, Western Australia, and fires this bowl at high temperature.
Reach for it on a cold winter night when ramen or pumpkin soup is the whole dinner.
