Happs Pottery
Several Happs Pottery glazes carry coastal names, and Shelly Beach is one of them, alongside Bunker Bay, Wyadup Stone and Shorebreak. It makes an easy souvenir, a small piece of the South West you can use every day.
The plate is pressed in a mould, then trimmed, glazed and finished by hand at the Happs studio on Caves Road, between Busselton and Dunsborough. The potter, Myles Happ, has potted since he was a child and has nearly 30 years of stoneware behind him. It measures 18.5 cm across and weighs about 470 g, and the maker says it is dishwasher, oven and microwave safe.
The maker suggests it for tapas, cake or toast in the morning. It also suits a few olives and a wedge of cheese on a Friday evening.
