Margaret River Food Company

Onion jam is a dark spread made by cooking onions down slowly with sugar and vinegar until they turn sticky and deep in colour. It is closer to a chutney than a fruit jam. This one is hand-made, and it is the jar that started Margaret River Food Company, back when the business traded under the name Hann Jam.

Margaret River Food Company is run by Paul, a chef, from Margaret River, Western Australia. The onion jam caught on before the wider range existed, and the business rebranded to its current name in 2016 once fruit pastes, pickles and relishes had joined it on the shelf.

Use it wherever a cooked onion is welcome: under melted cheese on toast, alongside a sausage, through a burger, or on a cheese board next to something sharp.
