Margaret River Food Company
Kasundi is an Indian-style spiced relish, a savoury condiment built on mustard and a mix of spices, usually cooked down with fruit or vegetables until it thickens. Compared with a sweet jam or chutney, it sits at the sharper, more savoury end of the pantry. It is meant to be spooned in small amounts alongside other food, not eaten on its own.
This one is hand-made by Margaret River Food Company, run by chef Paul in Margaret River, Western Australia, in the same range as the business's jams, pastes and pickles. The company began in 2013 making onion jam under the name Hann Jam, before rebranding in 2016 as its range of preserves grew.
Serve it beside a curry, spoon it over eggs, tuck it into a cheese toastie, or set it out with cold meat the day after a roast.
