River Ceramics
This handmade ceramic serving bowl is wide and shallow, made for salads and shared dishes. It is wheel-thrown in a warm, textured clay, glazed satin white inside and brushed outside with a coloured slip in blues and greens. Each one is made by hand, so no two are quite alike.
Jolene, the maker behind River Ceramics, took up clay in 2018 after more than a decade as a building designer. She mixes the Colina slips herself at her studio in Margaret River, Western Australia. Her shop restocks two or three times a year and most pieces sell within days, so this one may be gone when you look.
Bring it out piled with roast vegetables for a long lunch, or give it to someone setting up a kitchen of their own.
